Friendsgiving

A picture I took while landing, with the Minneapolis skyline in the background 💕

Last night was my first night home for the Holiday. It was actually a great day because my best friend picked me up from the airport, and we each got coffee for each other because we share the same brain! We then did our favorite activity and went to Trader Joe's, and picked up things we needed for Friendsgiving. Next up, we hit up Sephora, and I utilized the VIB sale to get more eye masks (I'm obsessed), and this eye lash primer! Super excited to try that.

A little later, I got to some some self care (did you see my self care challenge post??), and got my hair cut. I always go to the same stylist at Juut. I think Juut is the best place for all of your hair, skin, and pampering needs. I always feel very very pampered when I go there. You start with drinking their yummy tea. Then you get a scalp massage before your wash and cut! It is the best!! I also have exclusively used Aveda hair products for most of my life, and Juut is an Aveda salon (will do post about my fave Aveda things later😊).

My done hair!! Not a great picture of the hair, but it looks a lot happier than it did before!

That night, we went to my home, and had our other best friends over for Friendsgiving!! We do not do a traditional Friendsgiving because we just really like some side dishes!! Someone made the most delicious appetizer ever: baked brie bites with cranberry sauce. SO. GOOD. I will try to recreate the recipe below! Other dishes we ate: confetti corn, cheesy baked brussel sprouts, twice baked sweet potato hot dish, and sautéed green beans!

We played board games, and had dessert to end the night. Dessert was simple because I am not a baker: ice cream sandwiches with pumpkin ice cream, and gluten free crispy crunchy salted toffee cookies all from Trader Joe's!! So perfect!

Loose Recipe for the Baked Brie Bite (sorry pictures! we were having to much fun, and I forgot!):

Ingredients:

  • Gluten Free pie crust (I have celiac so we used this), or a pie crust of your choice.
  • Block of Brie of your choice (we used triple cream brie from Trader Joe's).
  • Cranberry sauce or favorite jam/preserves. Figs would also be yummy. We used the Cranberry sauce from Trader Joe's, and it is DELICIOUS.
  • Herb garnish if you wish.
  • Mini cupcake/muffin tin.
To Bake!
  1. Preheat oven to the specificities of your pie crust.
  2. Spray tin with cooking spray (or wipe with butter!).
  3. Cut the brie into pieces that fit in the mini sized tin.
  4. Either roll out the dough, and cut sizes that fit your tin, OR freeform dough into the tins.
  5. Line each cup in the tin with pie crust.
  6. Place a piece of brie in each cup in the tin.
  7. Put a small spoonful fo the Cranberry sauce/preserve over the top of the brie.
  8. Put in the preheated over for about 15 minutes (or for how long it says to bake the pie crust).
  9. Pull out and serve warm!! Yummmmm

Now, I am getting ready for day 2, and send thoughts my way to keep my warm 😂.

As always,

Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Who else has been loving the  Coastal Grandmother aesthetic trend on TikTok? I've been very engrossed in this trend that is actually not at all trendy and a nod to classic style, which I LOVE. Classic summer style is one of my favorite facets of classic style- linen dresses and pants, sun hats, walks on the beach and lots of rosé. This is literally me. And I consider myself a grandmillennial, so coastal grandmother is not too far off. Some may call it coast-grand-millennial ;) ALSO, a couple of weeks ago the Today Show did a segment on the trend, and featured a clip from one of my coastal gran TikToks! These are things you need to create your own coastal grandmother aesthetic, the coastal grandmother starter kit if you will. You probably have most of these things in your closet if you are a fellow classic style lover, like myself. So lets all live our lives as if we lived in a Nancy Meyers movie, and have the best coastal grandmother girl summer. Coast Grandmother Essentials...

What I Packed for Rhode Island

I am SO excited to be back on the East Coast for a bit. Today, we are driving to Rhode Island to spend the long weekend and celebrate my cousin's 30th birthday (thirty, flirting and thriving, right?!). I have only been to Rhode Island on one other occasion, and that was a marching band trip where we marched in the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country. Thinking back on that, it was a very surreal experience that I am grateful for, and I am even more excited to get to go back to that state and explore as an adult. As soon as I knew we would be going to Rhode Island, I thought about the outfits for the trip. It invoked a sense of the classic East Coast prep style that I already love so much, and so I took that as my packing inspiration! The Kiel James Patrick store/brand is based out of Newport, RI, so I will definitely be visiting and I had to leave room in my suitcase for some new KJP pieces. I haven't had to pack for travel in awhile, so I decided to take a new ap...

New Summer KJP (+ they're having a sale!!)

So today, I got the happiest email from Kiel James Patrick , featuring some super cute new pieces, and that they have a 4th of July sale!! The sale is 20% off any thing with the code America . I would definitely take advantage of this! Here are my favorite new things from KJP. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!! Striped shirt dress // I had all the feels when I saw this dress. First, it is striped AND a shirt dress! Second, it is actually named "Bristol Parade." That is the oldest 4th of July Parade in the country, and I had the privilege of marching in it during my high school marching band trip to New England in 2010 (omg that was 9 years ago?!?). That day it was about 110 degrees, and we wore all black uniforms....if you are familiar with the parade, it is a LONG LONG LONG route, and I somehow, barely survived. So, I think I need this dress for (just about) surviving that day, ahah! Flag sweater  // What a cute little flag sweater! I normally am not one ...
