Finding Motivation

  Happy Tuesday! I normally post on Mondays, but we had yesterday off from school, so I decided to push back my post for the "first" day in my week. Since starting medical school, I have been thinking more about productivity and motivation. I think everyone has their ups and downs with these two, but as a professional student, I notice them more. I am not always 100% motivated, which is probably pretty normal, and that is ok! It is hard being a med student (or any other student, or in any career), and living in this world that hustle culture has become so prevalent.  It has become easier for me to recognize when motivation is low. I think this is a good tool to have for yourself, so you can start to learn a better balance of productivity and mental rest. It is definitely hard to take care of low motivation in medical school when there is always something you can be learning, studying and reviewing. I am making it a point to take breaks and have better balance, and you should ...

My Hair MVP's

BTW my hair is more blonde now! Sooo I actually have been getting a lot of questions about my hair, which makes me kind of laugh because I did not understand how to take care of hair for a long time. I think I started to figure out a hair routine that works for me about 2-ish years ago. At that time, I realized that I could not get up at 5am everyday to wash my hair before work. (also because this is not the greatest for your hair, ahah) I decided that I needed to revise my hair game plan, and this is what it has molded into over the past few years! Here is my general routine- I do not strictly follow this, but this I try to stick to a schedule around this: 1. Washing my hair ever 2-3 days. I really cannot stretch it out must past this because my scalp gets SO oily, and workouts make it way harder to control the oil. I do sometimes schedule workouts around hair washing, lol, yeah I said it.  2. Using dry shampoo before going to bed. I feel like this was the best...

Having a day of YES {preppy girl fall!}

White jeans  |   Ruffle neck shirt  |   Blazer  |   Loafers Sometimes you just need a day to live, be spontaneous, and fully enjoy yourself. I call it a Day of Yes. What you chose to do on your day of yes, is entirely up to you. Whatever it is, it should bring joy (#sparksjoy). The other week, we totally needed a day of yes, so we popped into the city for some wandering, cupcake eating, and imbibing. Wherever the day took us, that is where we ended up! We started out in the West Village to do some stoop stalking and look at fall decor schemes. Popping by the Friends Apartment Building is always a must while in the West Village. My  favorite  street/court in the city is Grove Court, and it was decorated to fall perfection. Of course a fun fall day comes with the perfect fall outfit: white jeans, navy ruffle neck top and camel blazer, completed with the most comfy loafers. I was dressed ready for anything on this day. A week of natural deodorant

Shop a similar dress Hello! A few weeks ago, I started using a natural deodorant. At first, I was somewhat skeptical of this because it seemed like a big trendy fad that would die out. However, (this maybe be a TMI, but a funny one?) I have had chronically itchy arm pits (😂). I am not sure when it started, but the years of itchiness are very memorable, ahah. It had recently been suggested to me (by a healthcare provider) that I should try a natural deodorant. She didn't recommend any brand over another, but said it could be worth trying. I am still working on my own research on the risks/benefits/harms, etc. of all deodorants, so I have no conclusions on what the literature says on "natural" vs. "un-natural" deodorants, but I wanted to share my experience so far of using a natural one. I knew some brands that had a natural deodorant, and read things about all of them. When I was at Whole Foods the other week, I thought maybe they would have something...

On Handling Stress

Last week was one for the books, and not for the good books. It was one of those weeks when one horrible thing happens, and it spirals downward from there. I spent 4/5 of the school days feeling completely stressed, and on edge. I have never felt that level before. Because of this, I only did the bare minimum of studying, and I know my classmates felt it too. The feeling did improve, and I felt a lot lighter by the end of the week, if that makes sense. It didn't take much to get me to a better place by the end of the week, and I realized that I have handled stress pretty well my entire life. Everyone handles stress/anxiety in their own way. We all come up with our own coping mechanisms that we know work for us. I think it is crucial to know this about yourself, so you know what to do when things feel like too much. It is so good to be in tune with your body in all of your dimensions of physical, mental and emotional health. I cannot emphasize this enough! Here are my tips o...
