Books I Read in Quarantine

I am not sure the last time, if at all, I shared books that I had read/am reading. During grad school, I did not have much time for recreational reading, but post graduation quarantine life gave a lot of time for fun reading! I am sharing what I read in the past 4-ish months, and what I am currently reading. I hope I can stay on this reading grind as long as possible! After you peruse my reads, I would love to know what you have read, and what you recommend I read next. I have some ideas, but I love to know what others have loved.

Books I Read:

If you have not read this series, you must!! This is the last book of the trilogy, and the most wild, in my opinion. I often looked up from reading and said "WHAT!!!?!" out loud. I feel like it is a really good summer read because its fun, juicy, and a great escape.

I liked reading this during quarantine because I could follow it up with watching the Hulu TV version of it, haha. I liked the book a lot better than the TV version (they took too many creative liberties with the TV series, I think). Another page turner with unexpected twists that was a fun read.

Yes this is a YA book, and yes you need to read it. It is the cutest, funniest, sweetest read. When the Netflix movie version came out a while ago, I loved it. I had no idea that the movie was actually based off of a book until after I watched it many times, and knew I had to read it/them (it is a series of 3!). I totally agree with my friend Phoebe, and am #TeamPK all the way! I am also kicking myself for not grabbing the third book when I packed to come to Pennsylvania back in March..

This is the second book of To All the Boys I loved Before. Still just as cute, and you really pick a side and root for it in this one. Any shocked I rooted for PK?!

This book is my most recent one I finished. It is by a Black author, Brit Bennett, and everyone needs to read this book. It is a fictional story that brings up strong points about race, racism, and the concept of colorism. The perspective is so interesting, and I am glad I could learn a great deal on how to be a better ally and anti-racist. There's a lot packed into this novel, and the story is incredible. I am a slow reader, but was so invested in the plot that I read this one in no time! I will definitely be reading other books by this author! I read this one on the Kindle app on my iPad because the book is on backorder- just a heads up if you want to read it order now for later or do a digital book to start instantly :)

Currently Reading:

I am about 50 pages in, and just astonished about how this girl and her family live. This book is a memoir, and I haven't read in nonfiction in a while, so this is exactly what I needed, haha.

I downloaded this to my iPad the other day. I started to read it right then, but was sucked in by the first paragraph, and had to stop so I could get some studying done. I have heard this one is great read, and am excited to finish!

What's on Deck:

Why haven't I read this one yet!! Just got it in the mail!

This is a new book by Kevin Kwan who wrote the Crazy Rich Asians series, so naturally this one is on my TBR list!

As always,

Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Who else has been loving the  Coastal Grandmother aesthetic trend on TikTok? I've been very engrossed in this trend that is actually not at all trendy and a nod to classic style, which I LOVE. Classic summer style is one of my favorite facets of classic style- linen dresses and pants, sun hats, walks on the beach and lots of rosΓ©. This is literally me. And I consider myself a grandmillennial, so coastal grandmother is not too far off. Some may call it coast-grand-millennial ;) ALSO, a couple of weeks ago the Today Show did a segment on the trend, and featured a clip from one of my coastal gran TikToks! These are things you need to create your own coastal grandmother aesthetic, the coastal grandmother starter kit if you will. You probably have most of these things in your closet if you are a fellow classic style lover, like myself. So lets all live our lives as if we lived in a Nancy Meyers movie, and have the best coastal grandmother girl summer. Coast Grandmother Essentials: - B

What I Packed for Rhode Island

I am SO excited to be back on the East Coast for a bit. Today, we are driving to Rhode Island to spend the long weekend and celebrate my cousin's 30th birthday (thirty, flirting and thriving, right?!). I have only been to Rhode Island on one other occasion, and that was a marching band trip where we marched in the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country. Thinking back on that, it was a very surreal experience that I am grateful for, and I am even more excited to get to go back to that state and explore as an adult. As soon as I knew we would be going to Rhode Island, I thought about the outfits for the trip. It invoked a sense of the classic East Coast prep style that I already love so much, and so I took that as my packing inspiration! The Kiel James Patrick store/brand is based out of Newport, RI, so I will definitely be visiting and I had to leave room in my suitcase for some new KJP pieces. I haven't had to pack for travel in awhile, so I decided to take a new ap

Favorite Spots: St. Paul, MN

I have been thinking about Minnesota lately, and felt like reminiscing on some of my favorite spots in St. Paul, MN. Most people hear a city in Minnesota, and think Minneapolis. Although I love the treasures of Minneapolis, I went to college in St. Paul (Roll Toms πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œ), and lived there for 6 years, so it has a special place in my heart. First off, lets get familiar with this city. St. Paul is the state capitol of MN!! It is NOT Minneapolis as so many people think! It is the older of the Twin Cities, and I think has more charm. Its divided into neighborhoods like any other city, and some of the best spots, are little neighborhood gems. The Twin Cities are both equally "Foodie" places, and we love some craft breweries/distilleries, and good eats!! Grandview Theatre pictured above! Used to walk there during college just to get popcorn! Merriam Park University of St. Thomas - my alma matter! (I surprisingly do not have any good pics of UST..) Izzie's Ice Cre
