How to Hill House Q+A

Not to be one of those influencers who says " I  got so many questions about ...", but I actually do get quite a few DMs with questions about Hill House Nap Dress sizing, shopping etc. I thought I could write up a big post that would always be live on the blog so anyone could easily reference it! Also this is not sponsored or anything, but maybe one day I can work with my dream brand :) If there is ever a question that is not answered here, please send me a DM and I will answer you and add it to this post!

I own and wear a lot of Nap Dresses. I love this brand and love the founder and creator, Nell Diamond. I think she has such an incredible mission of HHH and for the fashion world. I even have their bedding, which was the first product/category HHH ever launched.

What size do you wear in the Ellie? -- I wear a small or x-small in the Ellie. All of my Ellie's are smalls except for one and I will explain why. This spring, HHH did a re-vamp of the Ellie: they made the smocking longer, added pockets, enforced the elastic and made the length of the dress a bit longer. When the "new" nap dress came out, I got my usual size small in the Ellie. It fits fine, but the smocking was not as tight as my other dresses. So for the next drop, I went with the x-small. I like that the smocking is tighter with sizing down, but I think my best size would be between the x-small and the small, lol. So o

What is a good dress pattern to start with? -- The most classic and OG pattern is the Blue Botanical print. I think this is one of the first ever HHH prints- it is such a classic blue and white pattern. It will be one you will have forever. Every drop has something fun and new, but the blue botanical is just a classic favorite :)

How do you wash your dresses? -- I wash all my HHH dresses on the gentle/hand wash/delicate cycle in cold water. Then I either hang to dry or put them in the dryer on low for 10 minutes before taking it out to hang dry the rest of the way. I try to only wash them when they need it because I want to try to keep the shape with minimal care.

Does the elastic hold up? -- Yes, the elastic does hold up, but I only try and wash my dresses when it is absolutely time. I do not hang them from the straps when it is wet and heavy. I think the elastic does hold up if you wash it more often, but I would be careful with how you wash the dresses then. I love that the updated dresses have pockets, but try not to weigh them down with phones, wallets, etc. just to be sure to not overly stretch the elastic.

Best way to shop the drop? -- This is a BIG question I get because everyone wants to get their hands on the latest drop! A few days before the drop, update your HHH account on the website- add your current shipping address and card info if you feel comfortable with it. Drops are usually at 12 Eastern, so I like to open the website and log into my account about 15 minutes before noon. Then I continually refresh the page until I am in. HHH will drop a line sheet with the new collection a week or more before the drop and you should take a good look and plan your buy so you can go to the exact pieces when they drop. If you know what you want, you can easily find it, add to cart and purchase. if you want multiple pieces, I might purchase them separately so they do not sell out before you get a chance to check out.

*Where can you find news of the newest drop? -- This almost exclusively shared on the HHH Instagram account first. A few days after they announce it on IG, they usually have an email blast to email subscribers- so I would follow them on IG AND be an email subscriber so you never miss any announcement.

What is your favorite non-Ellie dress? -- I only have one non-Ellie dress, but it is beautiful and is my favorite dress that is not an Ellie or like style from another brand. It is the new Daphne style. The bodice is fitted, the back has smocking and it has a side zipper, and the skirt just flows out and is so stunning. I also have bedding, and it is divine. I cannot recommend the bedding enough!

Does Hill House have sales? -- They usually have one sale in the late fall. Styles and patterns from previous collections are usually marked down- I got a dress for $50 last year! Bedding, accessories, clothing and kids are usually part of this sale!

As always,

Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Who else has been loving the  Coastal Grandmother aesthetic trend on TikTok? I've been very engrossed in this trend that is actually not at all trendy and a nod to classic style, which I LOVE. Classic summer style is one of my favorite facets of classic style- linen dresses and pants, sun hats, walks on the beach and lots of rosé. This is literally me. And I consider myself a grandmillennial, so coastal grandmother is not too far off. Some may call it coast-grand-millennial ;) ALSO, a couple of weeks ago the Today Show did a segment on the trend, and featured a clip from one of my coastal gran TikToks! These are things you need to create your own coastal grandmother aesthetic, the coastal grandmother starter kit if you will. You probably have most of these things in your closet if you are a fellow classic style lover, like myself. So lets all live our lives as if we lived in a Nancy Meyers movie, and have the best coastal grandmother girl summer. Coast Grandmother Essentials: - B

What I Packed for Rhode Island

I am SO excited to be back on the East Coast for a bit. Today, we are driving to Rhode Island to spend the long weekend and celebrate my cousin's 30th birthday (thirty, flirting and thriving, right?!). I have only been to Rhode Island on one other occasion, and that was a marching band trip where we marched in the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country. Thinking back on that, it was a very surreal experience that I am grateful for, and I am even more excited to get to go back to that state and explore as an adult. As soon as I knew we would be going to Rhode Island, I thought about the outfits for the trip. It invoked a sense of the classic East Coast prep style that I already love so much, and so I took that as my packing inspiration! The Kiel James Patrick store/brand is based out of Newport, RI, so I will definitely be visiting and I had to leave room in my suitcase for some new KJP pieces. I haven't had to pack for travel in awhile, so I decided to take a new ap

Favorite Spots: St. Paul, MN

I have been thinking about Minnesota lately, and felt like reminiscing on some of my favorite spots in St. Paul, MN. Most people hear a city in Minnesota, and think Minneapolis. Although I love the treasures of Minneapolis, I went to college in St. Paul (Roll Toms 😊💜), and lived there for 6 years, so it has a special place in my heart. First off, lets get familiar with this city. St. Paul is the state capitol of MN!! It is NOT Minneapolis as so many people think! It is the older of the Twin Cities, and I think has more charm. Its divided into neighborhoods like any other city, and some of the best spots, are little neighborhood gems. The Twin Cities are both equally "Foodie" places, and we love some craft breweries/distilleries, and good eats!! Grandview Theatre pictured above! Used to walk there during college just to get popcorn! Merriam Park University of St. Thomas - my alma matter! (I surprisingly do not have any good pics of UST..) Izzie's Ice Cre
