Happy 2021 + Monday Morning Routine

Happy first Monday of 2021! I have been going back and forth on whether or not I want to set intentions for myself for the new year. I looked back on my 2020 Intentions, and had a good laugh because that is all you can do. I am not being hard on myself for not fully rounding out all of my intentions of 2020 because that would be wasted energy. I think it is ok to not have complete follow through on your intentions/goals. I am finding it more important to just be able to roll with the punches (yes, it is cheesy!).

I hope you enjoyed seeing the 2020 favorites, and if you have not read it yet, you can do so HERE! {There's some good discount codes/links in that post, so be sure to check it out!} I always have a lot of fun writing that post every year, and keep a running list of things that I narrow down in December.

I made sure to start off the first Monday of the year on the right foot with things that make me feel balanced like exercise, a yummy/pretty good for me brekkie, a wellness shot (I know lol), and some puppy cuddle time! If you saw my Instagram stories, then you know I had a double yolk egg when I was making breakfast, and I took that as a very good sign that the good things will come this year! So without further ado, here is my details first Monday of 2021 routine:

- Wake up! I usually wake up between 7:00-7:40, and keep water by my bed to drink first thing in the morning.

- Coffee, coffee, coffee. I just love a warm drink to wake me up a bit. I get asked this, and I drink black coffee in the morning, and then an iced coffee or latte in the afternoon!

- A little quiet time without electronics- this is a new habit I am trying to implement. Obvious dog cuddles during this, haha.

- Exercise: I do a variety of things, but today I just wanted to do a brisk walk on the treadmill at an incline, and it felt incredible.

- Breakfast! I love breakfast, and feel like it is the most important meal. I usually will make a few things, and today I made my signature avocado toast (I have an Instagram Reels on how I make it). I always finish my coffee, and drink lots of water here, too. Other breakfasts I make are omelets, egg white scrambles, healthy-ish pancakes and oatmeal.

- Shower/Skincare: Pretty self explanatory, hah. Today, I did not get too sweaty, so I just washed my face, did my skincare routine, and loaded my hair with dry shampoo. Tomorrow, I will do a very sweaty workout, and wash my hair.

- Get ready + dressed! It is the dead of winter in Minnesota, so I have been wearing all of my Dudley Stephens fleeces on rotation- I just got the black fleece and it has been my recent favorite. Use this link for $25 off your first fleece (let me know if the link doesn't work, and I can help!)

Well, that is my Monday Morning routine. Nothing complicated, just the steps I like to take to ensure a good day/week. I wish you a great start to the new year. Cheers, friends!!

As always,

#dontforgetyourpearls

Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Who else has been loving the  Coastal Grandmother aesthetic trend on TikTok? I've been very engrossed in this trend that is actually not at all trendy and a nod to classic style, which I LOVE. Classic summer style is one of my favorite facets of classic style- linen dresses and pants, sun hats, walks on the beach and lots of rosé. This is literally me. And I consider myself a grandmillennial, so coastal grandmother is not too far off. Some may call it coast-grand-millennial ;) ALSO, a couple of weeks ago the Today Show did a segment on the trend, and featured a clip from one of my coastal gran TikToks! These are things you need to create your own coastal grandmother aesthetic, the coastal grandmother starter kit if you will. You probably have most of these things in your closet if you are a fellow classic style lover, like myself. So lets all live our lives as if we lived in a Nancy Meyers movie, and have the best coastal grandmother girl summer. Coast Grandmother Essentials...

What I Packed for Rhode Island

I am SO excited to be back on the East Coast for a bit. Today, we are driving to Rhode Island to spend the long weekend and celebrate my cousin's 30th birthday (thirty, flirting and thriving, right?!). I have only been to Rhode Island on one other occasion, and that was a marching band trip where we marched in the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country. Thinking back on that, it was a very surreal experience that I am grateful for, and I am even more excited to get to go back to that state and explore as an adult. As soon as I knew we would be going to Rhode Island, I thought about the outfits for the trip. It invoked a sense of the classic East Coast prep style that I already love so much, and so I took that as my packing inspiration! The Kiel James Patrick store/brand is based out of Newport, RI, so I will definitely be visiting and I had to leave room in my suitcase for some new KJP pieces. I haven't had to pack for travel in awhile, so I decided to take a new ap...

New Summer KJP (+ they're having a sale!!)

So today, I got the happiest email from Kiel James Patrick , featuring some super cute new pieces, and that they have a 4th of July sale!! The sale is 20% off any thing with the code America . I would definitely take advantage of this! Here are my favorite new things from KJP. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!! Striped shirt dress // I had all the feels when I saw this dress. First, it is striped AND a shirt dress! Second, it is actually named "Bristol Parade." That is the oldest 4th of July Parade in the country, and I had the privilege of marching in it during my high school marching band trip to New England in 2010 (omg that was 9 years ago?!?). That day it was about 110 degrees, and we wore all black uniforms....if you are familiar with the parade, it is a LONG LONG LONG route, and I somehow, barely survived. So, I think I need this dress for (just about) surviving that day, ahah! Flag sweater  // What a cute little flag sweater! I normally am not one ...
