Getting Derby Ready!

Last year, I went to a Kentucky Derby at my favorite spot in Minneapolis. It was so so much fun! Everyone was all dressed up, and had a mint julep in hand. I am very bummed that I will not be around to go to that particular Derby party this year because I LOVE dressing up for it! I really could care less about the actual race lol, and am just really here for the dress and hat 😊. Here is my look from last year. I wore my simple sun hat that has a bow. I didn't want to do a crazy hat with all the embellishments because it is just not my style or the look I wanted. For the dress I wore an older Kate Spade blue and white dress, and finished the look with some sensible wedges. I have to say that I felt very put together in my simple look, and knew I was way more confident and comfortable than those who "went all out." (sorry the photo is kind of not great, and tried my best to make them look a little better, haha.) And DUH! I also wore my pearls because you know what

Playing with Photography

I got a nice Nikon camera for Christmas. I have been slowly learning how to use it, and finding my photography style. I pretty much still do not have the best idea of what I am doing (haha), but I am trying! When I was last in NYC, I had my camera, and took some fun shots in the city. Here are the few that I was most proud of 😊. (Again, I'm still learning!!) As always,  #dontforgetyourpearls

What I'm Loving -Pink Edition

Starting this week off continuing with the pink theme! I have been loving all of the pink things this spring!! It has always been one of my favorite colors, but I was never attracted to wear much of the color. However, there are so many cute pink pieces this season that I cannot resist it! So, I have rounded up the pretty in pink things I have had my eye on. 💕 Pink gingham dress (Here is a more affordable version of this dress.) Pink sweater Pink (and green) swimsuit- Top and bottoms Pink button and bow dress Pink gingham headband Pink striped pajama set That's it for pink round up, for now! What colors are you loving this spring? Can't wait to see where the rest of the warm weather color inspiration takes me!  As always, #dontforgetyourpearls

Thinking Pink

Spring is definitely in bloom on campus. This beautiful tree is right outside the entrance to the medical school (where I have all my classes), and everyday I pass it, and admire its blooming, little pink flowers. I have no clue what kind of tree this is, but I am pretending it is the Rutger's version of a cherry blossom tree (lol). I have always wanted to go down to Washington DC to see the peak bloom of the cherry blossoms, so this tree will have to do for now 😊. This was totally impromptu photo shoot with an iPhone. (Thanks Leesh!) I did not plan anything, and it just worked out that I had this outfit on. While looking back at the photos, I loved how this blazer with pink tones, complimented the pink flowers. I decided to put a rosiness on these photos because I guess I am light pink crazy these days! Sadly this Gal Meets Glam blazer is no longer available. Please bring it back for next season because the bow on this is so perfect!! But I have found some

Travel Diary: NYC iPhone Pics

Ok, ok, I know. Going to NYC was not really traveling for me, but it was a staycation with the bestie visiting from MN! So it was traveling for her, so traveling for me?! Let's just go with that 😂 But anyway, I think this is going to be a new thing: whenever I go somewhere, I will have a travel diary with pics from my phone, mostly (have some from the Nikon that I have to share)! So here is our weekend in NYC. We had a blast!! Bluestone Lane has the yummiest avocado toast, and they have a gluten free bread for me! Next time, I am going to add some feta to my avo toast. Yummm! Bad picture, I know, BUT I had to capture thee Tiffany Diamond that Lady Gaga wore to the Oscars. So. Freaking. Impeccable.  I did a whole post about this little gem of a spot! Going to Kate Spade on Madison Ave is always a must.  I may have oops'ed whilst in Tiffany and Co .  Found this cute little Italian place on Restaurant Row in Hell's Kitchen. My advi

Afternoon at Ralph's

This week has been weird because my visiting best friend went back home to MN. We did have an amazing time, and I think she loved her first little tour of NYC. While we were in the city, I said we HAD to stop at Ralph's Coffee for a pick me up. I had not been to the location on Madison ave yet, but heard that it was the CUTEST, preppy coffee place ever. It did not disappoint, and the cappuccino we had was perfect. You can also buy the Ralphs's coffee cups and coffee online, so if you can't make it up to the Madison Ave location, you can have it shipped to your door 😊 I obviously had to wear my Gal Meets Glam Celeste dress in navy, with a strand of pearls. This dress was seriously the best dress to throw on, and explore the city when it was in the "in-between" transition temperatures from winter to spring. The silhouette is so simple and classic, and you can really style the dress how ever you want to! I have had some questions ab

Trench and Tweed

This is such an exciting day for me!!! I am featured on  Lucindervention . Lu is the sweetest, and I can't thank her enough for the opportunity to be featured in a Style Survey on her blog, so make sure to go check out her post, and follow her on Instagram @lucindervention. I had a great morning shooting this look with her, and thought that I also want to feature it here. I picked out the Katherine dress ( sizes at Gal Meets Glam ) from Gal Meets Glam to wear. I'm sorry that it is mostly sold out now, but always check Poshmark for it to turn up! The dress is a gorgeous tweed with some shimmer to it, and it really goes with everything you pair with it! It is a sleeveless dress, and the day was chilly, so I wore a blue oxford button-up underneath. I have also worn a plain turtleneck under the dress, and thrown a blazer or sweater over it. Really, anything works with the dress! I also got to bring out the tan trench for the first time, and loved the way it
