Capsule Winter Work Wear

Hello! I know it has been so long since my last published post, but back today with another work wear capsule. (I really want to get back to more regular posts!) I was inspired to put this together as I have somewhat of a winter uniform and reach for great basics most days and add things to pull together a cute and warm look for the office (well clinic or hospital for me 😊). I have another great work capsule wardrobe post from last late summer/fall so if it is not as cold where you live I would definitely check out that one: what to wear to work . A lot of those pieces I shared in that post would also transition nicely to colder months with adding some layers, sweaters, and tights! I like to think of easy basics to keep in my closet so it is easy to pull out simple pieces that can all mix and match. I also have a handful of more "fun" pieces to add to my basics such as striped T's and turtlenecks, tweed lady jackets, scarves, etc. I try to dress in layers or pick piece...

Tartan Season

Its is almost tartan season! My favorite Hill House drop of the year is usually their tartan drop. Summer will always be my favorite season but there is something about a fun plaid dress that just gets me! Anyway, I meant to have this go up before the drop last week but did not get to it then but I am getting to it now! I am kind of sad they did not bring back the navy tartan this year because that is my absolute favorite and I wanted to replace my original navy tartan Ellie with one of the updated Ellies so instead I got the blackwatch Ellie . I do love blackwatch and think it is a great plaid to wear all winter, not just over the holidays. Blue Ellie  |   Button-up Dress |   Blackwatch Ellie  |   Red Tartan Louisa  |   Blackwatch Louisa Red Tartan Athena  |   Blackwatch Athena  |   Red Tartan Ellie  |   Rose Gold Ellie   Navy Platforms  |   Blackwatch Skirt  |   Blackwatch Mini Dress As ...

THE DRESS

Since I first showed this dress , I have been waiting for it to be included in a sale (I think everyone is, aha). I feel like this is the week that it will be on sale! If you read my Tartan round-up post yesterday, you know that I look forward to new plaid styles every season. When this dress dropped , I could not resist it. Smocking has been so in, and I feel like it is sticking around for awhile, that I was so excited to see this black watch smocked dress with a puffed sleeve! Its all my favorite more grandmillennial style elements wrapped up in one sweet *plaid* dress. I do not say this often, but this dress is a need . It is a flannel material, so it is perfectly soft and comfortable. I think it is the perfect mix of feeling dressed up for a holiday, but staying comfy for a day full of treats and celebrating. There is so many ways to style this up, too. I dressed it up a bit with these heels, but you could try flats, booties or a classic pump. As soon as I confirm that ...

Shopping My Closet vol 3

All throughout the holidays, I would throw on this nap dress  ( $20 off! ) to be cute, comfy and chic while at home. Recently, I have been seeing other girls wearing it into the new year, and styling it up in various ways. A favorite style I have seen is the button-down under the dress, so I had to try it out for myself and for the third edition of shopping my closet (read vol 1 + vol 2 )! I have been loving creating these looks from what I already have in my closet because it forces me to get creative and mix and match pieces in new ways. Yes, I still have the urge to shop but maybe that's just winter+pandemic related boredom. So, this dress has not been in my closet for too long, but I think the styling opportunities are endless. Previously, I have worn it with a turtleneck and just loved the look of that! The plaid is a good winter plaid that just so happens to work perfectly for the holidays too. I normally do not wear much plaid past the end of the year, but I keep re...

Shopping My Closet vol. 2

Winter really makes me feel blah about style and clothes. I recently wrote this blog post and shared an Instagram about classic wardrobe pieces I have had for a long time, and always reach for. I received such a great response that I decided to turn it into a blog series where I shop my own closet to create a look! Read the first one here . Trench Coat | Scarf | Jeans | Flats (c/o, use code SARAHFLINT-BALIBBYM for $50 off!) For this outfit, I pulled out my favorite neutral color combination of camel and black. I have definitely worn something very similar or identical in the past, and I think that is the mark of timeless pieces! Let's start with the trench coat - I love this classic tan trench. It is the perfect silhouette for a trench in my opinion, and I have gotten a lot of use out of it. This coat is probably better for transitional weather than dead of winter weather, hah.  Because it is the dead of winter here in Minnesota, I added my favorite cold weather accesso...

Winter Classic

Yesterday on my Instagram feed, I shared an outfit from two years ago. I still own every piece of that outfit, and would still wear it today, and felt that was the definition of classic style. I am always at a crossroads of winter fashion between I don't know what to wear and I don't want to wear what is in my closet! I definitely feel somewhat uninspired during this season, but I usually feel like I want to shop but nothing appeals to me! I have done this in the past, but "shopping" your own closet at times like these can be a lot of fun. That is what I did to put together this outfit. Yes, I think I have worn a version of it before, but to me that means that I am still drawn to these pieces, like my other classic pieces from my IG post! It is fun to see what is in your closet and how you can wear it differently, or mix and match pieces in new ways.  Similar Skirt  |  Turtleneck  |  Similar Sweater  |  Necklace  c/o |  Similar Bag ...

Winter Florals

Coat   |   Boots   |   Dress Coat  |   Boots  |   Dress   I was not sure about this coat when it first came out, but then I got to see it in person at the Margaux x Gal Meets Glam event in NYC , and thought it was the chicest take on a classic trench. The embroidered florals make it perfect all year round, but I have been loving this pop of color in winter. The trench has a quilted lining, and is quite warm! ( I would say that it is better for "warmer" winter days for me, because I am perpetually chilled.) The coat is on major sale on GMGC (its linked, don't worry) for under $150 (original price was over $350, so its a HUGE mark down!!). Also, since when did I become trendy girl with a love for headbands, and OTK boots ?!? I saw these were on sale at Nordstrom (still are!), and I was like, whelp, those are coming home with me. This brand of boots is made to be *waterproof*. I feel like it will be a ...

You better watch out!

Ok, sorry. I had to take the great opportunity with the title of this post 😂. Once it came to my brain, it was too funny to pass up! The days until the holiday are numbered, so I wanted to share this fun festive outfit, and chat about some holiday traditions today. This might be one of my favorite locations I have found back home in MN to shoot at during the winter. It looks all cheery and Christmasy! It is a historic home that has been restored as a historical landmark. I always forget the name, but I know exactly where it is, so I could navigate someone there, ahah! Skirt  |   Scarf  | Similar sweater  |   Similar Shoes  |   Earrings This blackwatch skirt from Ann Taylor is incredible! I love the fit, and the material: is a thicker material that will actually keep you warm during the winter! I really feel like blackwatch is a winter long plaid because the colors are not overly Christmasy. But, it is still festive ...

You Plaid Me at Hello

Why does it seem that plaid season is extra short this year?? It makes me sad how fast it is going because I still have so much plaid left to wear!! So, there will be A LOT of plaid on here for the next few weeks, and I am not sorry about it 😂. [Side bar- I think the less red plaids, like black watch, are just fine outside the holidays! But red and green together plaids just feel too Christmasy to wear after New Year's.] Skirt  |   Shirt  |   Sweater Blazer  |   Tote  (gifted/won!)  |  Old J. Crew Shoes - similar here A plaid skirt is always a staple in my holiday wardrobe. I feel like it is a timeless piece that you can style so many ways. I know I will wear this year after year! I have seen so many cute plaid skirt options this year, but this one from J. Crew really caught my eye. The colors in it just seem perfectly holiday-esque, and the bands of tweed make the skirt stand out from other plaid skirts! I...

A Pop of Plaid

Happy first Tuesday of December! It is only 22 days until Christmas, and that is just crazy! Today, I finally get to go back to New Jersey after all of the this insane winter weather, and I am excited to finish my Masters! Yes, like actually be done with the program and graduate!! More on that later 😊. While home in Minnesota, it was VERY cold and snowy. I found myself reaching for my Dudley Stephens fleece every single day! I loved dressing it up and down, and wore it with this white skirt one day. I also picked up this plaid headband (totally copied Elsa , Carly and Phoebe on this one, but I HAD to have it!!). It adds the perfect pop of festiveness to any outfit! I have been loving pairing it with a neutral outfit, like the one here, so the headband is the statement of the look.  I know I have talked A LOT about these fleeces on here, but let me just say a few more things (for now, haha)! I finally got to put this to the test in actually cold, snowy winter ...
