Accent with Blue

ACCENT WITH BLUE Shirt  |  Similar Skirt  |  Shoes  |  Bow  |  Similar Bag Shirt | Similar Skirt | Shoes | Bow | Similar Bag I have been playing around with how to add my favorite color combination, blue and white, to my winter wardrobe. I was looking at my closet, and thought why not wear a very neutral outfit and accessorize with blue.  I love how the blues pop against the white shirt and gray+neutral colored skirt. I went with this light blue velvet bow from my friend Sarah's small business and an old blue bag from kate spade. They are not the exact same shade of blue, but I like that it wasn't so matchy-matchy but complemented each other well.  You can totally wear this outfit as we transition to warmer months by not wearing the tights- I had to wear the tights because it was still only 20 degrees in MN even though it felt warm compared to the last several weeks of arctic weather we had. I might even switch up the shoes ...

Winter Survival part 1- Indoors

We are here/it is here...winter that is (we have been having highs of 0 degrees...). I have kind of been anxious about this winter since the chilly weather started to settle in last fall. I was worried that winter would feel like last spring, and I think no one wants to revisit those feelings. But honestly, winter hasn't been as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it is also not great haha. I have definitely tried to adopt a more hygge mindset about embracing winter weather and all that you cozy indoor space can offer you.  So today, I am sharing my tips on how we are surviving this winter *indoors edition.*   Theme Dinner Nights- We started doing this to have something to look forward to every couple of weeks. Our theme is pick a travel destination, and make dinner from the destination. It has been fun! The other night we had Greek/Mediterranean, and it was incredible making everything at home. It could also be fun to try to make a recipe from a favorite restaurant from...

Transitioning to Spring with Margaux and Shelby

Anyone else totally over winter, and just want some warmth and sun? ME! Today I have a really fun post that scratches that itch for warm weather. I teamed up with one of my good friends (one day, when we can travel, we will meet in person!) Shelby of TaylorLaneBlog.com and @shelbyclouthier on Instagram, to share looks we will be wearing to transition from winter to spring with our Margaux Demi Flats . After you read this post, hop over to her blog to read hers! For my transition to spring look, I thought of pieces that layer well, and can still keep you warm as the Minnesota very slowly melts into spring. Of course, I chose my navy Margaux flats (use code LIBBY10 for 10% off) for this look. I love these flats as they are incredibly comfortable and are such a classic piece. For the outfit, I went with this camel sweater dress , which may not sound super spring, but spring in MN is not that warm, and you need to be prepared for possible 40 degree weather. That is why I went with...

Shopping My Closet vol. 2

Winter really makes me feel blah about style and clothes. I recently wrote this blog post and shared an Instagram about classic wardrobe pieces I have had for a long time, and always reach for. I received such a great response that I decided to turn it into a blog series where I shop my own closet to create a look! Read the first one here . Trench Coat | Scarf | Jeans | Flats (c/o, use code SARAHFLINT-BALIBBYM for $50 off!) For this outfit, I pulled out my favorite neutral color combination of camel and black. I have definitely worn something very similar or identical in the past, and I think that is the mark of timeless pieces! Let's start with the trench coat - I love this classic tan trench. It is the perfect silhouette for a trench in my opinion, and I have gotten a lot of use out of it. This coat is probably better for transitional weather than dead of winter weather, hah.  Because it is the dead of winter here in Minnesota, I added my favorite cold weather accesso...

Winter Classic

Yesterday on my Instagram feed, I shared an outfit from two years ago. I still own every piece of that outfit, and would still wear it today, and felt that was the definition of classic style. I am always at a crossroads of winter fashion between I don't know what to wear and I don't want to wear what is in my closet! I definitely feel somewhat uninspired during this season, but I usually feel like I want to shop but nothing appeals to me! I have done this in the past, but "shopping" your own closet at times like these can be a lot of fun. That is what I did to put together this outfit. Yes, I think I have worn a version of it before, but to me that means that I am still drawn to these pieces, like my other classic pieces from my IG post! It is fun to see what is in your closet and how you can wear it differently, or mix and match pieces in new ways.  Similar Skirt  |  Turtleneck  |  Similar Sweater  |  Necklace  c/o |  Similar Bag ...

Holiday Mood Board

Happy November 1!! Aka- the unofficial, official start the holiday season!! I want to start by saying that no one is really going to have a very "traditional" holiday season this year. So with that in mind, I really want to feel the holiday spirit at all times while we spend so much time at home this season. I have put together my holiday decor mood board! I like putting these together so I can better execute my vision for decor. I wanted to share this one because it really sparks joy.  My vision for this holiday is to have a pretty classic decor theme that also incorporates my love of blue and white, and of course, ginger jars. I took all of these images from Pinterest (although a lot of them are from Kelly in the City and Carly !). I will continue to add to my HOLIDAYS Pinterest Board , so come follow along, and we can inspire each other.  I am really excited to decorate, and have been in the holiday mood since mid-October. I am just ready for tartan bows every where, hot...

Sweater Weather Edit

Happy Sweater Weather Season! I am always on the hunt for cozy sweaters this time of year, but I struggle to find them. I cannot wear wool, cashmere or any sweater material like that because I am allergic/my skin is verrry sensitive to it. It is so hard to find just cotton based sweaters in winter in fall!! I scrolled through many websites to find some of the best sweaters, that I CAN wear, out there! If you also have a wool allergy or sensitivity this one is for you! It is also for you if you just like a good sweater moment 😉. First, I need to shout out my favorite sweater: the Rollneck from J. Crew . I have it in sooo many colors, and wear them often! It is a good closet staple, in my opinion, as it is a classic shape! I also need to shout out the Sweater Blazer from J. Crew Factory- this one is cotton while the normal J. Crew one is not! Another closet classic for me! Left: Sweater Blazer  |   Right: Rollneck Sweater Sweater Weather Edit: JavaScript is currently disabled...

Winter Florals

Coat   |   Boots   |   Dress Coat  |   Boots  |   Dress   I was not sure about this coat when it first came out, but then I got to see it in person at the Margaux x Gal Meets Glam event in NYC , and thought it was the chicest take on a classic trench. The embroidered florals make it perfect all year round, but I have been loving this pop of color in winter. The trench has a quilted lining, and is quite warm! ( I would say that it is better for "warmer" winter days for me, because I am perpetually chilled.) The coat is on major sale on GMGC (its linked, don't worry) for under $150 (original price was over $350, so its a HUGE mark down!!). Also, since when did I become trendy girl with a love for headbands, and OTK boots ?!? I saw these were on sale at Nordstrom (still are!), and I was like, whelp, those are coming home with me. This brand of boots is made to be *waterproof*. I feel like it will be a ...

You better watch out!

Ok, sorry. I had to take the great opportunity with the title of this post 😂. Once it came to my brain, it was too funny to pass up! The days until the holiday are numbered, so I wanted to share this fun festive outfit, and chat about some holiday traditions today. This might be one of my favorite locations I have found back home in MN to shoot at during the winter. It looks all cheery and Christmasy! It is a historic home that has been restored as a historical landmark. I always forget the name, but I know exactly where it is, so I could navigate someone there, ahah! Skirt  |   Scarf  | Similar sweater  |   Similar Shoes  |   Earrings This blackwatch skirt from Ann Taylor is incredible! I love the fit, and the material: is a thicker material that will actually keep you warm during the winter! I really feel like blackwatch is a winter long plaid because the colors are not overly Christmasy. But, it is still festive ...

You Plaid Me at Hello

Why does it seem that plaid season is extra short this year?? It makes me sad how fast it is going because I still have so much plaid left to wear!! So, there will be A LOT of plaid on here for the next few weeks, and I am not sorry about it 😂. [Side bar- I think the less red plaids, like black watch, are just fine outside the holidays! But red and green together plaids just feel too Christmasy to wear after New Year's.] Skirt  |   Shirt  |   Sweater Blazer  |   Tote  (gifted/won!)  |  Old J. Crew Shoes - similar here A plaid skirt is always a staple in my holiday wardrobe. I feel like it is a timeless piece that you can style so many ways. I know I will wear this year after year! I have seen so many cute plaid skirt options this year, but this one from J. Crew really caught my eye. The colors in it just seem perfectly holiday-esque, and the bands of tweed make the skirt stand out from other plaid skirts! I...
