Capsule Winter Work Wear

Hello! I know it has been so long since my last published post, but back today with another work wear capsule. (I really want to get back to more regular posts!) I was inspired to put this together as I have somewhat of a winter uniform and reach for great basics most days and add things to pull together a cute and warm look for the office (well clinic or hospital for me 😊). I have another great work capsule wardrobe post from last late summer/fall so if it is not as cold where you live I would definitely check out that one: what to wear to work . A lot of those pieces I shared in that post would also transition nicely to colder months with adding some layers, sweaters, and tights! I like to think of easy basics to keep in my closet so it is easy to pull out simple pieces that can all mix and match. I also have a handful of more "fun" pieces to add to my basics such as striped T's and turtlenecks, tweed lady jackets, scarves, etc. I try to dress in layers or pick piece...

What to Wear to Work

I recently started my third year of medical school and that means we are finally in clinical rotations. I am on my family medicine rotation, which means I get to wear business casual and cute outfits instead of scrubs. I am probably the only medical student excited about getting to dress up and not having to wear scrubs every day. I did some shopping before I started rotations to add some more pieces to my wardrobe and have been sharing my looks every day I am in clinic.  I put together this little capsule of work wardrobe inspiration with great basics to mix and match and pieces I have been loving for my clinic wardrobe. I love having basic pieces to put together outfits and style different ways. I think they are so versatile and pieces you keep in your closet forever- like a white button up will never go out of style! It is fun to add your own personality to basics too- the other day I wore the navy pants and striped sweater t-shirt and tied a sweater around my shoulders b...

My Summer Uniform

Friends, it has been hot, hot, hot here in Minnesota for the past week! It really feels like Florida in the height of summer because it is that hot and humid. Like usual for the summer, I have been reaching for all my long, flowy, light dresses, especially my nap dresses ! I am so happy to have these in my summer closet because they have been such a HOT weather outfit game changer! I know I will continue to reach for these all summer, and hopefully add one or two more to my collection. They are have a summer launch and restock on June 16, so be sure to keep an eye out for that! Here is a link for $20 off of $100 at Hill House Home! The nap dress is really so versatile. There's so many ways to wear it, and that is one of the reasons why I love this piece, and now call it a closet staple. I have put together some ideas on how to style this for summer such as at home, on the go, casual and even dressed up! I know I will be referring back to this for easy, chic and comfortable out...

A Born on Fifth Dress

Nothing makes me happier than being able to wear a cute little sundress and not freeze. I was so happy to be in Florida a couple of week ago, and finally wear this dress ! It is the mini dress from the Born on Fifth x Antonio Melani collection for Dillards . I was instantly drawn to the stunning blue and white pattern! I will link more of this pieces from the collection below! This is not normally the length and silhouette I would go for, but something was drawing me to this dress the most. I ended up loving this silhouette more than I thought I would- the baby doll look is nice because it is nice and fitted up top, and then just flows down and feels very flattering. There's also the bow that makes this dress feel so fun and feminine.  I styled the dress with my go to spring/summer accessories: espadrilles and a wicker bag. I was nervous to wear espadrilles with it because of the shorter length, but it ended up looking fine and not visually shortening the dress (these can b...

Spring Mini Dress

I am usually all about the midi and maxi length dresses, but sometimes I find a mini or short dress that needs a spot in my closet. I have had this Gal Meets Glam dress for a couple of years now, and she is the perfect example of this. I think it is fun to mix up the silhouettes of dresses you own, and I have definitely added some new styles of mini's and maxi's in the past several months.  I wish this dress was still available, so I could link it, but I have found some similar options that are just as good! This is the Gal Meets Glam Darla dress if you wish to do some internet thrifting, but I will warn that it is hard to come by these days! The details, of any dress, are really an important feature, but more so for me if I am going to invest in a dress that is not my usual style/silhouette. For this dress, it was really the pattern, color and bow tie detail. The fact that it is a shirtdress is really icing the cake. It is such a fun piece with a timeless element. For simil...

Shopping My Closet vol. 4

Welcome to spring-ish weather. It has been beautiful here in Minnesota, but I have feeling this is just like a fool's spring and we will have a few more cold and snowy days before real spring starts. But, I could not resist pulling out one of my favorite Liberty floral dresses for a new Shopping My Closet post! I bought this dress from J. Crew last spring as a quarantine stressed induced impulse purchase. I found myself wearing it all the time last spring, and was a great piece to just throw on and feel put together (and stop me from wearing work out clothes all day). I absolutely adore the Liberty London floral pattern on this dress. The dainty blue and white flowers with specks of some pinks are so perfect for warmer weather. The silhouette is also so easy and flattering on everyone. This exact dress is not available any more, but I have linked some similar pieces below! I paired the dress with my favorite espadrilles. I know these are a bit of a splurge, but you will have the...

Accent with Blue

ACCENT WITH BLUE Shirt  |  Similar Skirt  |  Shoes  |  Bow  |  Similar Bag Shirt | Similar Skirt | Shoes | Bow | Similar Bag I have been playing around with how to add my favorite color combination, blue and white, to my winter wardrobe. I was looking at my closet, and thought why not wear a very neutral outfit and accessorize with blue.  I love how the blues pop against the white shirt and gray+neutral colored skirt. I went with this light blue velvet bow from my friend Sarah's small business and an old blue bag from kate spade. They are not the exact same shade of blue, but I like that it wasn't so matchy-matchy but complemented each other well.  You can totally wear this outfit as we transition to warmer months by not wearing the tights- I had to wear the tights because it was still only 20 degrees in MN even though it felt warm compared to the last several weeks of arctic weather we had. I might even switch up the shoes ...

Outfits Lately

It has been ages since my last post like this. Maybe a year ago? Or more? Anyway, these are some outfits from the past few weeks or so. I want to start doing these more because I like reading other people's post like this, as it gives me inspiration for some simple outfits for staying at home and such. I was laughing as I was uploading the photos to draft the post because WOW was I into *jeans*. Well the one pair of jeans I have hah. I am really not a jeans person at all, but these called to me, and I actually like them?! I don't think I go on a jean buying spree, but I do like that they have been something different to throw on as I (we) spend our days at home. But, I am definitely not calling myself a jeans gal/lover any time soon. (also enjoy the various stages of room clutter ahah) PS- the outfit with the black blazer, dress and the heels was for a virtual interview day!
