Holiday Traditions

I love what this time of year brings. It feeling joyous and warm, and being seem happier. I also love continuing traditions with my family each year. Our biggest tradition, and one of few traditions, is to spend the Holiday somewhere warm. Yep, our White Christmas is not from snow, but from white sandy beaches! We usually go to Florida, but have gone other places a few years.

I love palm trees with lights 😍

I am not sure exactly when this tradition started, but we have been ditching the cold for at least 10 years. When we go, we usually invite other family members to join, and rent a house. Most often, our family accepts the invite to thaw in Florida for the holiday! 😂

Here are our Tropical Christmas Traditions:

  • Drawing Names--the first night that everyone is there, we each draw a name out of a hat. We then venture off, and try to find a small gift for the person or dog we drew. Depending on where in Florida we are, there can be limited options for shopping. My favorite gift exchange is when our options are little touristy shops, so the gifts are random souvenirs and knick-knacks. It is very comical what people come up with.
  • Cookie decorating competition -- Self explanatory!
  • Christmas eve dinner is a more 'traditional' holiday dinner.
  • After Christmas eve dinner, we drive around, and look at holiday light displays, and top the night off with a tropical cocktail at a favorite tiki bar.
  • Christmas day dinner is more a tropical dinner.
  • We try to exchange gifts outside on the lanai if weather permits (it usually does because it is Florida!).

My parents are the cutest!

I would love to know what traditions you have for the holidays!!!

As always,

Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Who else has been loving the  Coastal Grandmother aesthetic trend on TikTok? I've been very engrossed in this trend that is actually not at all trendy and a nod to classic style, which I LOVE. Classic summer style is one of my favorite facets of classic style- linen dresses and pants, sun hats, walks on the beach and lots of rosé. This is literally me. And I consider myself a grandmillennial, so coastal grandmother is not too far off. Some may call it coast-grand-millennial ;) ALSO, a couple of weeks ago the Today Show did a segment on the trend, and featured a clip from one of my coastal gran TikToks! These are things you need to create your own coastal grandmother aesthetic, the coastal grandmother starter kit if you will. You probably have most of these things in your closet if you are a fellow classic style lover, like myself. So lets all live our lives as if we lived in a Nancy Meyers movie, and have the best coastal grandmother girl summer. Coast Grandmother Essentials...

What I Packed for Rhode Island

I am SO excited to be back on the East Coast for a bit. Today, we are driving to Rhode Island to spend the long weekend and celebrate my cousin's 30th birthday (thirty, flirting and thriving, right?!). I have only been to Rhode Island on one other occasion, and that was a marching band trip where we marched in the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country. Thinking back on that, it was a very surreal experience that I am grateful for, and I am even more excited to get to go back to that state and explore as an adult. As soon as I knew we would be going to Rhode Island, I thought about the outfits for the trip. It invoked a sense of the classic East Coast prep style that I already love so much, and so I took that as my packing inspiration! The Kiel James Patrick store/brand is based out of Newport, RI, so I will definitely be visiting and I had to leave room in my suitcase for some new KJP pieces. I haven't had to pack for travel in awhile, so I decided to take a new ap...

A Thanksgiving Look

Turtleneck  |   Skirt  |   Tights  |   Boots Thanksgiving is only one week away! I am excited to go home, and spend time with my family and friends. This is a holiday that is HARD to dress for. On one hand, you want to wear joggers and a big sweater because of all of the yummy food and treats. On the other hand, you want to dress up, or slightly dress up while still feeling comfy. Hence, the big dressing dilemma: how to create the right look for your kind of holiday? I like to dress it up a little , without wearing a cocktail outfit or gown, haha. I created this look for a dressy, casual look. It is an easy outfit to put together, and I bet you have some similar pieces in your closet! A turtleneck, plaid skirt and tights is such a classic fall look that is also great for this holiday. It is kind of an easy dressing equation too because it is so easy to mix and match what you have in your closet, or buy one new piece that you know will go with an...
