A week of natural deodorant

Shop a similar dress

Hello!
A few weeks ago, I started using a natural deodorant. At first, I was somewhat skeptical of this because it seemed like a big trendy fad that would die out. However, (this maybe be a TMI, but a funny one?) I have had chronically itchy arm pits (😂). I am not sure when it started, but the years of itchiness are very memorable, ahah. It had recently been suggested to me (by a healthcare provider) that I should try a natural deodorant. She didn't recommend any brand over another, but said it could be worth trying.

I am still working on my own research on the risks/benefits/harms, etc. of all deodorants, so I have no conclusions on what the literature says on "natural" vs. "un-natural" deodorants, but I wanted to share my experience so far of using a natural one.

I knew some brands that had a natural deodorant, and read things about all of them. When I was at Whole Foods the other week, I thought maybe they would have something here that I would like, so I picked up this one from Schmidt's. The scent is fresh, and not over powering, so I loved it a lot! Compared to a "normal" deodorant, it is a bit more expensive, but if you are an Amazon Prime member, you can often find body care sales at Whole Foods (when I purchased mine, deodorant was 35% off for Prime members). I also liked this one because it says that it does absorb wetness throughout the day.

First Few Days: I started using it on a day that I knew I was not going to have any high intensity physical activity, and it was not too warm outside. When I put it on for the first time, the scent was AMAZING! But, the texture of the deodorant was kind of strange, and almost coarse?! I liked the first day a lot because the scent lasted, and I could smell it more when I moved, which felt like a good thing.

Next Few Days: I get back to my East Coast home in NJ, and the weather was 1000% humidity and 10000000 degrees out, at least that is what it felt like, ha! This really put this new deodorant experience to the test. I also went back to regular work outs, another great test. I was nervous at first because it was that hot out, and I can get sweaty during a work out, but I think it did what it was supposed to do. I kept smelling like a fresh rose, and felt mostly dry. I mean how dry dry can you actually feel when the air doesn't feel dry.

Day 6 + 7: These were 2 VERY hot days spent walking around NYC. This was a big test of the new deodorant.  I felt fresh for those 2 days, despite the fact that it was blazing temperatures outside. I did, again, feel sweaty, but not excessively. I still think that in that kind of heat, no one will feel completely dry, especially if they are walking around, outside in the hot weather.

Overall, I really like the Schmidt's! I will be continuing to use it, and maybe try some other scents when I am finished with those rose! I highly suggest this brand if you are looking to go for something a little more clean and natural.

As always,

#dontforgetyourpearls

PS-- I have been using this deodorant for about 3 weeks, and I still love it!! We are currently in some insane heat wave out East, and wow, this bad boy has been holding up for me.

A Thanksgiving Look

Turtleneck  |   Skirt  |   Tights  |   Boots Thanksgiving is only one week away! I am excited to go home, and spend time with my family and friends. This is a holiday that is HARD to dress for. On one hand, you want to wear joggers and a big sweater because of all of the yummy food and treats. On the other hand, you want to dress up, or slightly dress up while still feeling comfy. Hence, the big dressing dilemma: how to create the right look for your kind of holiday? I like to dress it up a little , without wearing a cocktail outfit or gown, haha. I created this look for a dressy, casual look. It is an easy outfit to put together, and I bet you have some similar pieces in your closet! A turtleneck, plaid skirt and tights is such a classic fall look that is also great for this holiday. It is kind of an easy dressing equation too because it is so easy to mix and match what you have in your closet, or buy one new piece that you know will go with an...

Tied with Tartan

Happy Monday, friends! It is December, and that means you can catch me wearing plaid about every day. I wore this dress the other week, and have showed it on my Instagram, but it is still on sale, so I thought this outfit needed its own post! Dress | Shoes c/o (use libby10 for 10% off at Margaux ) | Headband J. Crew always puts out some of the best holiday pieces, in my opinion. I love all the of the plaids because they just feel so classic and timeless, and I know I will be able to wear them for forever. This new dress caught my eye this year: it is plaid, a shirt dress, AND has ruffles! I was instantly sold, and even more so during their holiday sales. And, it is still on sale- its 50% off with an extra 20% off with code FESTIVE! I am wearing a size small, and it is not too short on me. I do think, as with all J. Crew, that it runs a tad big, so you could definitely size down (I miraculously could have fit into a xs). It doesn't button all the way down, which I think is a ...

A new collection comes out about every month, and every month I look at it, and think: I want it all!! The next drop is March 13th, and I am so excited!!
