What I Packed for Charleston

I am just back from my trip to Charleston, SC. It was an amazing trip, and I need to go back to explore all that I missed. I love seeing what others pack for trips to various destinations, and thought it could be helpful to share what I packed for my trip to Charleston. Since my family has a house in Florida, I am no stranger to the heat and humidity of the South this time of year. This is what I always keep in mind when packing for a late spring/early summer trip to this part of the country. I gravitate towards flowy dresses, lighter colors, and throw in sweaters for icy air conditioning and cooler nights.

For this trip, I wanted to include pieces that I can dress down during the day, and dress up a little more for night time since we love to do fun, nice vacay dinners. So I mostly packed dresses and skirts. I did wear linen pants for travel, so I also had those in case I was feeling like pants (I wasn't!). I also brought a swim suit + cover up for the rooftop pool/terrace/bar.

DRESSES:

Dress 1 |  Dress 2  |  Dress 3  |  Dress 4  |  Dress 5  | Dress 6  |  Dress 7

I really only packed dresses to wear during the day. Light, flowy and breezy is the name of the game for late spring into summer in Charleston because it was very warm while we were there. I packed quite a few dresses that are no longer available, so I found some very similar options to share here. All of these can be wore with sandals and sneakers during the day and can be easily dressed up for night time. I love packing with versatile pieces, it definitely saves room in your suitcase.

SHOES:

Espadrilles  |  Sneakers  |  Grier Sandals (use code SARAHFLINT-BALIBBYM for $50 off!)  | Slides

While we explored the city during the day I either wore my sneakers or slides. Both comfy options that look great with all the dress options, but still feel put together. I saved the espadrilles and tie up sandals for dinners, night exploring when we weren't walking far or grabbing drinks. All of my shoe choices are  neutral/white so all of the shoes I pack will go with any outfit I want to wear.

ACCESSORIES:

Body Sunscreen  | Face Sunscreen  |  Sunglasses  | Sunhat  | Small Wicker Bag  | Tote

So I did not pack a sunhat, but I highly recommend it to keep the strong sun off your face and neck. But I did bring and wear all the body and face sunscreen! And do not forget to reapply! I pretty much carried my little wicker bag during the day and for dinner. I didn't bring a small tote, but had my Longchamp, and brought that around for shopping one day. The straw tote is always great if you are planning any beach time.

As always,

Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Who else has been loving the  Coastal Grandmother aesthetic trend on TikTok? I've been very engrossed in this trend that is actually not at all trendy and a nod to classic style, which I LOVE. Classic summer style is one of my favorite facets of classic style- linen dresses and pants, sun hats, walks on the beach and lots of rosé. This is literally me. And I consider myself a grandmillennial, so coastal grandmother is not too far off. Some may call it coast-grand-millennial ;) ALSO, a couple of weeks ago the Today Show did a segment on the trend, and featured a clip from one of my coastal gran TikToks! These are things you need to create your own coastal grandmother aesthetic, the coastal grandmother starter kit if you will. You probably have most of these things in your closet if you are a fellow classic style lover, like myself. So lets all live our lives as if we lived in a Nancy Meyers movie, and have the best coastal grandmother girl summer. Coast Grandmother Essentials...

What I Packed for Rhode Island

I am SO excited to be back on the East Coast for a bit. Today, we are driving to Rhode Island to spend the long weekend and celebrate my cousin's 30th birthday (thirty, flirting and thriving, right?!). I have only been to Rhode Island on one other occasion, and that was a marching band trip where we marched in the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country. Thinking back on that, it was a very surreal experience that I am grateful for, and I am even more excited to get to go back to that state and explore as an adult. As soon as I knew we would be going to Rhode Island, I thought about the outfits for the trip. It invoked a sense of the classic East Coast prep style that I already love so much, and so I took that as my packing inspiration! The Kiel James Patrick store/brand is based out of Newport, RI, so I will definitely be visiting and I had to leave room in my suitcase for some new KJP pieces. I haven't had to pack for travel in awhile, so I decided to take a new ap...

A Thanksgiving Look

Turtleneck  |   Skirt  |   Tights  |   Boots Thanksgiving is only one week away! I am excited to go home, and spend time with my family and friends. This is a holiday that is HARD to dress for. On one hand, you want to wear joggers and a big sweater because of all of the yummy food and treats. On the other hand, you want to dress up, or slightly dress up while still feeling comfy. Hence, the big dressing dilemma: how to create the right look for your kind of holiday? I like to dress it up a little , without wearing a cocktail outfit or gown, haha. I created this look for a dressy, casual look. It is an easy outfit to put together, and I bet you have some similar pieces in your closet! A turtleneck, plaid skirt and tights is such a classic fall look that is also great for this holiday. It is kind of an easy dressing equation too because it is so easy to mix and match what you have in your closet, or buy one new piece that you know will go with an...
