What I'm Loving no. 34: January Favorites

I feel like I am back in my blogging grove and I love this feeling! I have tried to stay on top of it during medical school, but it has been so hard to do so (but have been on my socials!). I think the state of social media being in big flux the last couple of months has brought me back to my website as it is something that will always be here and I can always reference it!

January has felt so long but so quick and I'm shocked we are at the end of it. This month, I had my last away rotation of fourth year of medical school then spent the rest of the month home in Minnesota where it has been frigid. My parents bought a new house that they have been renovating, so I have been picking out the design for my room and can't wait to put it all together, but may need some insight from you guys!

January Favorites:

1. Wicked Stanley: I wanted this since it came out last fall. It sold out so fast, and I kept checking the Target website to see if they received any more in stock. I almost bought one on a resale site but those also kept selling out. Turns out my mom had purchased one when they came out and gave it to me for the holidays! I have been using it non-stop since, haha. I am not a hot pink girlie, but the sparkly Glinda pink speaks to me! (still can find them on Mercari, eBay, etc!)

2. SkinFix Triple Lipid Peptide Cream: It has been SO cold and dry this January and my skin has not enjoyed it and even have eczema breakouts which I have never had before. I usually just use this at night but will use it as my daytime moisturizer if my skin is very dry, flaky and irritated. I highly recommend if your skin is very dry/irritated and in need of some barrier repair. I have noticed that some products will feel like they burn on my already irritated skin, but this cream does not do that and feels soothing. Stay tuned for all my dry skin recs!

3. More Needlepointing: I have been on a good needlepoint routine this month. It makes me so happy because it is my favorite hobby. I have purchased many new canvases this month and now need to be cut off, haha. There is just something so relaxing but so productive about stitching, but also getting to be creative as I decide thread colors and try new stitches. This is a great beginner canvas to try if you want to start.

4. T-shirt's under sweaters: I never understood why you would wear a t-shirt under a sweater until I tried it. It adds an extra layer of warmth without feeling bulky and I think it almost protects your sweaters and makes them last longer. It also feels so luxurious to wear one and feels chic to have a nice t-shirt popping out of the top of a sweater?! Definitely try it if you haven't already.

5. These PJ's: I have replaced my entire pajama collection with matching PJ sets now and its just one of those little things that brings me so much joy. I got this pair during the HHH sale and have been my most worn pair this month. The cotton is SO soft and feels great against your skin and makes them extra comfy. They do stretch out a bit as your wear them, but I honestly like that. I get a medium in HHH (and most other brands) pj's. (My tip is to NOT put these in the dryer when you wash them because they will shrink.)

6. Pinterest: I have had a Pinterest account since 2012. I have always used it here or there in the past few years, but this month I feel like I have fell in love with it again. I am having so much fun looking for inspiration and it is really sparking my creativity. I am decorating my room in my parents new house, as I mentioned above, I've been loving going to Pinterest for ideas. You can follow along with me here!

Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Who else has been loving the  Coastal Grandmother aesthetic trend on TikTok? I've been very engrossed in this trend that is actually not at all trendy and a nod to classic style, which I LOVE. Classic summer style is one of my favorite facets of classic style- linen dresses and pants, sun hats, walks on the beach and lots of rosé. This is literally me. And I consider myself a grandmillennial, so coastal grandmother is not too far off. Some may call it coast-grand-millennial ;) ALSO, a couple of weeks ago the Today Show did a segment on the trend, and featured a clip from one of my coastal gran TikToks! These are things you need to create your own coastal grandmother aesthetic, the coastal grandmother starter kit if you will. You probably have most of these things in your closet if you are a fellow classic style lover, like myself. So lets all live our lives as if we lived in a Nancy Meyers movie, and have the best coastal grandmother girl summer. Coast Grandmother Essentials...

What I Packed for Rhode Island

I am SO excited to be back on the East Coast for a bit. Today, we are driving to Rhode Island to spend the long weekend and celebrate my cousin's 30th birthday (thirty, flirting and thriving, right?!). I have only been to Rhode Island on one other occasion, and that was a marching band trip where we marched in the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country. Thinking back on that, it was a very surreal experience that I am grateful for, and I am even more excited to get to go back to that state and explore as an adult. As soon as I knew we would be going to Rhode Island, I thought about the outfits for the trip. It invoked a sense of the classic East Coast prep style that I already love so much, and so I took that as my packing inspiration! The Kiel James Patrick store/brand is based out of Newport, RI, so I will definitely be visiting and I had to leave room in my suitcase for some new KJP pieces. I haven't had to pack for travel in awhile, so I decided to take a new ap...

A Thanksgiving Look

Turtleneck  |   Skirt  |   Tights  |   Boots Thanksgiving is only one week away! I am excited to go home, and spend time with my family and friends. This is a holiday that is HARD to dress for. On one hand, you want to wear joggers and a big sweater because of all of the yummy food and treats. On the other hand, you want to dress up, or slightly dress up while still feeling comfy. Hence, the big dressing dilemma: how to create the right look for your kind of holiday? I like to dress it up a little , without wearing a cocktail outfit or gown, haha. I created this look for a dressy, casual look. It is an easy outfit to put together, and I bet you have some similar pieces in your closet! A turtleneck, plaid skirt and tights is such a classic fall look that is also great for this holiday. It is kind of an easy dressing equation too because it is so easy to mix and match what you have in your closet, or buy one new piece that you know will go with an...
