Holiday Bucket List

I think I just started a new series of seasonal bucket lists! I always have a summer one, but this year I made a fall bucket list, and now I have a holiday bucket list! (Not sure what would be a spring bucket list though, haha.) If you are new here (hi, welcome!), I LOVE the holidays. For this bucket list, and like all of mine for 2020, I picked things that are Covid/social distancing friendly. I really wanted to add ice skating and a Christmas market to this list, but I personally think that it could be hard to distance from others. This year, I think we should embrace a cozy holiday season at home!

HOLIDAY BUCKET LIST:

1. Look at Lights - My most favorite thing to do is drive around, and look at all the pretty lights.

2. Decorate the Tree - Blasting some Christmas music, and decorating the tree always brings joy!

3. Bake and Decorate Sugar Cookies - I want to find and perfect a gluten free sugar cookie recipe this year!

4. Holiday Cheeseboard - Brie with homemade cranberry sauce sounds so good!

5. Watch White Christmas - This is a classic, and my favorite holiday movie.

6. Watch Elf - I like smiling, smiling's my favorite! How can you not love Buddy!

7. Wear A LOT of Plaid - I always try to wear tartan/plaid everyday during the holiday months!

8. Make festive Cocktails - I saw this new Cranberry Ginger Beverage at Trader Joe's, and think this + Champagne + a cranberry garnish would be so festive and delicious!

9. Read a Holiday Themed Book - Because I have been so into reading in 2020, I want to find some holiday books to put on my TBR pile. Preferably, I am doing this reading by a fire :) [My friend Phoebe at Read&Wright.com will surely have some great holiday book recommendations!]

10. Make Hot Cocoa from Scratch - Scratch cocoa is so much better than the packets of it. I am going to look for a good dairy free recipe- maybe I'll make it with oat milk for all the creaminess.

11. Find new Christmas PJ's - It has been years since I bought a set of Christmas jammies! I am thinking plaid pj's!

12. Decorate a Gingerbread House - We do not do this every year, but this year feels like an on year for this. You could even make it a competition in your family, and FaceTime in someone to judge, haha.

13. Visit a Christmas Tree Farm - I like to do this even though we have had the same artificial tree for years! We do need another tree in our new home this year, so maybe we can get a real one!

14. Go for a Winter Walk - The fresh, fresh air of winter can really be good for the soul. It would also be such a spot-on Hygge day to go for a winter walk, and come back home for a cozy day.

Last, but not least:

15. Pay It Forward/Random Acts of Kindness - This season is all about giving, and I always make sure that I can give back in some way so that everyone can have a dose of holiday cheer. Here are some good ideas: donate to a toy drive/food bank/shelter etc., buy the next persons order at the coffee shop, sponsor a child or family, send snail mail cards (I love this one), bake treats and safely drop it off for an elderly family member/friend. There is so much you can do in this category!

As always,

Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic

Who else has been loving the  Coastal Grandmother aesthetic trend on TikTok? I've been very engrossed in this trend that is actually not at all trendy and a nod to classic style, which I LOVE. Classic summer style is one of my favorite facets of classic style- linen dresses and pants, sun hats, walks on the beach and lots of rosé. This is literally me. And I consider myself a grandmillennial, so coastal grandmother is not too far off. Some may call it coast-grand-millennial ;) ALSO, a couple of weeks ago the Today Show did a segment on the trend, and featured a clip from one of my coastal gran TikToks! These are things you need to create your own coastal grandmother aesthetic, the coastal grandmother starter kit if you will. You probably have most of these things in your closet if you are a fellow classic style lover, like myself. So lets all live our lives as if we lived in a Nancy Meyers movie, and have the best coastal grandmother girl summer. Coast Grandmother Essentials...

What I Packed for Rhode Island

I am SO excited to be back on the East Coast for a bit. Today, we are driving to Rhode Island to spend the long weekend and celebrate my cousin's 30th birthday (thirty, flirting and thriving, right?!). I have only been to Rhode Island on one other occasion, and that was a marching band trip where we marched in the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the country. Thinking back on that, it was a very surreal experience that I am grateful for, and I am even more excited to get to go back to that state and explore as an adult. As soon as I knew we would be going to Rhode Island, I thought about the outfits for the trip. It invoked a sense of the classic East Coast prep style that I already love so much, and so I took that as my packing inspiration! The Kiel James Patrick store/brand is based out of Newport, RI, so I will definitely be visiting and I had to leave room in my suitcase for some new KJP pieces. I haven't had to pack for travel in awhile, so I decided to take a new ap...

New Summer KJP (+ they're having a sale!!)

So today, I got the happiest email from Kiel James Patrick , featuring some super cute new pieces, and that they have a 4th of July sale!! The sale is 20% off any thing with the code America . I would definitely take advantage of this! Here are my favorite new things from KJP. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!! Striped shirt dress // I had all the feels when I saw this dress. First, it is striped AND a shirt dress! Second, it is actually named "Bristol Parade." That is the oldest 4th of July Parade in the country, and I had the privilege of marching in it during my high school marching band trip to New England in 2010 (omg that was 9 years ago?!?). That day it was about 110 degrees, and we wore all black uniforms....if you are familiar with the parade, it is a LONG LONG LONG route, and I somehow, barely survived. So, I think I need this dress for (just about) surviving that day, ahah! Flag sweater  // What a cute little flag sweater! I normally am not one ...
